Scotland's West Coast

Culzean Castle Culzean Castle is a restored residence and grounds near Ayr on the west coast.
Perched right on the edge of the cliffs, it provides incredible views over the water...
...like this
(Click on the image to see it in all its glory). On the way north from Ayr we stopped at the side of Loch Lomond to enjoy the view.
Kilchurn Castle Looming through the mist on the banks of Loch Awe are the ruins of Kilchurn Castle, accessible only by boat.
Glencoe Glencoe village, situated on the shores of Loch Leven and at the head of Glen Coe is an extremely picturesque town with a river,
stone bridges,
and boats.
Loch LevenIn search of dinner we drove along the shores of Loch Leven to the town of Kinlochleven. The clouds were pouring in over the loch, making for one of the most spectacular fish and chip takeaways we've ever eaten!
Oh, and this is where we had our first real experience of midges. The little buggers got everywhere and wouldn't go away.
All over the hills leading down to the loch, heather was growing in amongst the ferns - this was the sort of scenery alongside almost every road.
Sunrise over the waters surrounding Glencoe.
